Temporary workers of Jalpaiguri Biswa Bangla Krirangan COVID-19 Hospital fear losing their jobs

Jalpaiguri, 03rd February: The Temporary workers of Jalpaiguri Biswa Bangla Krirangan COVID-19 Hospital fear losing their jobs as the number of coronavirus cases is decreasing day by day.


It is to be noted, last year, a part of Biswa Bangla Krirangan was built as a COVID Hospital with advanced and modern technology. Around 60 temporary workers are working in the hospital. Reportedly, the district health department has asked the workers not to join work due to lack of funds.

A temporary worker said that he left his job at a shop and started working at the said hospital. He was assured of being permanently employed in the future too. However, no such steps are being taken at the moment.


In this regard, the hospital superintendent Gayaram Naskar said that every month, a total of 10 lakh rupees is paid to the temporary staff. They have been asked not to come to work for some time due to a lack of new funds.
