Telangana police launch operations to nab friendship club kingpins

Siliguri, 08th November: Various friendship clubs and illegal call centers are being run across the city. The Telangana police, after arresting seven people involved in the ring, is now in search of the kingpins namely Santu Das, Meenakshi Das(Mampi), and Debashish Mukherjee.


On Sunday, M Ravinder Reddy, on behalf of Telangana police, said search operations have been launched to get hold of the kingpins. He further said that the arrested individuals will be taken into police custody following which, continuous operations will be held in Siliguri.

It is to be noted that the Telangana police, on Saturday, launched operations at Matigara and Bhaktinagar police station area and arrested seven men. The arrested accused have been identified as Ajay Kumar Shah, Jitendra Kumar Pandit, Vijay Shah, Mohammad Nur Alam, Binod Shah, Rakesh Kumar, and Sajan Haldar. While Binod, Vijay, and Nur will be taken on transit remand on Sunday, the others have been called to Hyderabad with notice.


Reportedly, the arrested individuals were running a fraud and illegal business through a dating app. They used to earn big amounts from customers on the pretext of providing special dating benefits. A complaint in that regard was lodged at a cybercrime police station in Telangana. Following this, a special police team with the assistance of the Siliguri Police Commissionerate, successfully nabbed seven men yesterday. Several more names have come up in this regard.

Besides, the police have also received a list regarding various friendship clubs and illegal call centers in Ashrampara, Punjabi para, Pradhan Nagar, Matigara, and other places.
