Swift theft in Alipurduar leaves gold trader in distraught

Alipurduar, 17th September: Sensation prevailed in the Jateshwar Bazar area of Falakata block, where two unidentified miscreants made off with gold ornaments worth lakhs from the trunk of a two-wheeler.


According to local sources, on Saturday night, a gold trader named Tapan Dutta carried valuables including jewellery in a bag in the trunk of his motorcycle. However, when he left the vehicle to shut down his shop, two miscreants allegedly broke into the trunk of the two-wheeler and stole the jewellery bag in no time. The entire incident was recorded on the CCTV camera.

In this regard, businessman Tapan Dutta expressed his disappointment and explained that two young men arrived on a two-wheeler, opened the trunk, and escaped with his jewellery bag. He added that, apart from the jewellery worth approximately 1.5 lakh rupees, his ATM and PAN cards were also stolen. The matter was immediately reported to Jateshwar Outpost police. At present, police are engaged in a detailed investigation of the entire incident.
