State Women’s Commission team met assault victim of Siliguri Samar Nagar area

Siliguri, 19th October: In Samar Nagar of Siliguri, a case of assaulting a woman by stripping off her clothes came to the fore two days ago. Today, a team of four members of the State Women’s Commission reached the area to inquire about the incident.


Women’s Commission chairperson Leena Gangopadhyay along with her team met the aggrieved woman. Along with this, the chairperson also inquired from the cops of Pradhan Nagar police station about the action taken on the said incident. She said that such an incident is very unfortunate. She assured to keep the matter in check.

It is to be noted that on October 17, a woman was maltreated by throwing spit on another woman in Samar Nagar area under Pradhan Nagar police station of Siliguri. On protesting against the indecent behaviour against the woman, she was stripped and beaten up. Later the locals reached the spot and handled the situation. 


At the same time, as soon as the news of the incident was received, the police of Pradhan Nagar police station reached the spot and apprehended three people including two women. Presently all three are in judicial custody.
