Siliguri, 20th January: During a press conference on Wednesday, Ashok Bhattachary stated that the previous Left Front government had planned to convert Siliguri into a planned city.
Speaking on how the Left leaders played a major role, especially in dealing with traffic congestion and development in the field of sports, Bhattachary accused the present government of not taking any initiative on these issues.
Bhattacharya said that during the Left’s rule, SJDA had adopted various steps for the development of the city as compared to the present scenario. He said that he would send a letter to state Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in this regard.
