State Child Protection Commissioner gears up to stop child trafficking in tea gardens of Dooars

Kalchini, 17th July: The State Child Protection Commission has geared up to stop child trafficking in the tea gardens of Dooars. The team was headed by Soumitra Roy, a musician and also the Special Adviser to the State Child Safety Commission. 


Today, the members of the Child Protection Commission visited Bharnobari Tea Garden village located in Kalchini of Alipurduar and interacted with the families of the tea garden workers. During this, Soumitra Roy listened to the various problems of the children and their parents. 

Members of the commission said that on Monday, various aspects of the problem would be highlighted by holding a meeting with the administrative officers of the Alipurduar and Jalpaiguri districts. Furthermore, the district administration has been advised to be more vigilant to prevent the trafficking of children from tea gardens. Apart from this, strict legal action will also be recommended against the original kingpin of such trafficking gangs.
