SOG and Bhakti Nagar police arrested three on drug charges

Siliguri, 02nd February: Special Operation Group (SOG) and Bhakti Nagar police station unearthed drug smuggling by running a joint operation late Wednesday night. The team arrested three with drugs from PC Mittal bus stand. The arrested have been identified as Bijay Sahni, Manglu Sheikh and Abhishek Mallick.


According to information, Manglu Sheikh reached NJP railway station after he boarded a train from Malda’s Kaliachak. Following this, Bijay Sahni, a resident of the Bhaktinagar police station area, reached PC Mittal bus stand in his auto with the alleged drug peddler Manglu Sheikh. However, before the duo could make the deliveries, the SOG got a clue regarding it. Acting promptly, the cops of SOG and Bhakti Nagar police station caught three people at the bus stand and searched them. 300 grams of brown sugar were recovered from Manglu Sheikh’s possession.

As per the preliminary investigation, the SOG learned that the auto driver Bijay Sahni and his accomplice Abhishek Mallick are the middlemen of the drug smuggling racket. The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act against the arrested. Today all three accused were produced in the Jalpaiguri court.
