Siliguri, 29th May: In a move that delighted the football fans of the city, Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) has taken initiative for the beautification of Mohun Bagan Avenue Road. In this regard, today Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb reached the spot for inspection.
Reportedly, the road under the Mahananda Bridge has been named Mohun Bagan Avenue, keeping in mind the supporters of Mohan Bagan football club in the city. Subsequently, on the request of East Bengal supporters, the name of the road near Kanchenjunga Stadium has been changed to East Bengal Road, much to the delight of the supporters of both the teams.
In addition to naming the roads, SMC has also taken the initiative for its beautification, following which today, Mayor Goutam Deb and Deputy Mayor, Ranjan Sarkar, visited Mohun Bagan Avenue Road and took stock of all aspects for beautification.
