Siliguri’s Mayor Goutam Deb strongly condemned the incident of assault in a hotel, accused still absconding from police custody

Siliguri, 29th October: Two days back an incident of miscreants assaulting business people by coercively entering the hotel had come to the fore. Speaking on this, Mayor Goutam Deb strongly condemned the said incident. He said that there will be an impartial inquiry into the incident. However, even after several days from the incident, the accused has not been arrested. 


It is to be noted that on the night of October 26, at around 1, some people entered and beat up the businesspeople in a hotel located on Raja Rammohan Roy Road under Ward No. 15 of Siliguri. The said accused had also beaten up a woman in the incident. After the incident, a written complaint was lodged at the Panitanki outpost. However, the police have not yet apprehended anyone in the said incident. 

Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb was in Kolkata for the last few days. Today he arrived back in Siliguri. In this regard, he said a misfortunate and unacceptable incident took place and condemning such acts he added that he does not want such things to happen in Siliguri. He also said that he would talk to the police administration and businessmen. On the other hand, the State Women Commission has also been investigating the incident. The chairperson of the commission has also spoken to the Siliguri Metropolitan Police regarding the matter.
