Siliguri, 16th July: The preparations for Haiderpara Sporting Club’s Durga Puja began on the auspicious occasion of Rath Yatra with the traditional ‘Khutti Puja’ ceremony in Siliguri.
West Bengal Assembly Speaker Rathindra Bose was present at the ‘Khutti Puja’ event. This year, the main attraction of the puja will be a terracotta art-based theme, showcasing the beauty of Bengal’s traditional folk art and culture.
The pandal decoration, idol and lighting arrangements will feature artistic elements inspired by terracotta craftsmanship. Along with the puja, the organisers have planned several social initiatives, cultural programmes and special attractions for visitors.
Club Secretary Nimai Pal said that preparations are underway on a grand scale like previous years. However, there is some concern over the possibility of not receiving government financial assistance. He added that despite financial challenges, the puja arrangements will continue and expressed confidence in the government.
