Siliguri, 27th June: The Ashok Nagar area in Siliguri was once again inundated with water after a brief spell of rain, causing concern among local residents who anticipate yet another year of waterlogging woes.
Every year during the monsoon season, the Ashok Nagar area, situated in Ward No. 31 of the Siliguri Municipal Corporation, becomes submerged in water. The corporation acknowledges that the area’s low-lying nature contributes to water accumulation and has taken multiple initiatives to address the problem.
Although work has commenced on these initiatives, the local residents fear that the issue of waterlogging will persist this year as well. This afternoon, as light rain fell, the area experienced waterlogging, further highlighting the ongoing problem faced by the community.
