Siliguri police bust gambling racket, six arrested

Siliguri, 18th November: Based on a tip-off, the Siliguri police launched operations at a den in Siliguri’s Burdwan road and arrested 6 men on the charges of gambling.


The arrested accused have been identified as Uttam Agarwal, resident of Jyoti Nagar, Anil Agarwal, resident of Punjabi para, Kapil Goel, resident of Khalpara, Rohit Goel, resident of Sukanta Sarani in Ward No. 25, Gopal Kedia, resident of Khalpara and Manoj Chowdhury, resident of Milanpally. They were produced before the Siliguri court on Wednesday.

From the past several days, the police had received several complaints regarding a gambling den in the said area. Acting promptly, the police launched investigations and successfully got hold of 6 accused on Tuesday. Around 6 lakh rupees were seized by the police from the betting board. According to police sources, all the arrested individuals belong from big business families.


Earlier too, during the lockdown, the Siliguri police raided a house in the Khalpara area and arrested several people and recovered lakhs of rupees from the betting board.
