Siliguri, 13th July: To make postal services more modern and customer-friendly, an advanced digital kiosk has been introduced at Siliguri post office, first in North Bengal. The service was officially inaugurated on Monday.
Earlier, people had to stand in queues at post office counters to send letters, parcels, and other postal items. With the introduction of the digital kiosk, customers can now complete the booking process themselves.
Through the kiosk, customers can deposit their postal items, after which the machine will automatically measure the weight. The required postal charges can then be paid online according to the weight, completing the entire process digitally.
Director Postal Services M. Sudhakara Mallya stated that the digital kiosk has been introduced to save valuable time of the public and make postal services easier, faster, and more transparent.
The digital kiosk service will remain operational every day from 8 AM to 8 PM, allowing customers to book postal items automatically during this period.
The launch of the service has received a positive response from the public. Many customers said that the facility will help them avoid long queues and enable faster postal bookings.
