Siliguri Metropolitan Police mourns the loss of officer who died from COVID-19 complications

Siliguri, 08th June: Sanjeev Poddar, a police officer working in the Metropolitan Police’s Detective Department (DD), lost his battle to the fatal coronavirus, on Monday evening. The news of his death engulfed the police department and the entire city with an atmosphere of grief. Sanjeev Poddar leaves behind two children and his wife. 


As per the information, Officer Poddar was transferred to DD last February. Earlier he was working in Siliguri Traffic department. He was undergoing treatment for the last one month after contracting the virus. For better medication, he was admitted to a non-government hospital near Matigara. 

While the officer’s physical condition showed improvement in between, however, two days ago the complications grew and his condition started deteriorating. The efforts of the doctors did not work and the brave heart eventually lost the battle to COVID-19.


Siliguri Police Commissioner Gaurav Sharma expressed condolences on the death of his promising police officer. He said that the entire police department is with Sanjeev Poddar’s family in this hour of grief. He said that his last rites will be done according to the COVID guidelines. 

The Police Commissioner met the mourning family of the frontline warrior Sanjeev Poddar. He further assured all possible help to the family.
