Siliguri, 17th May: A vehicle explosion occurred this morning while maintenance work was being carried out at a garage in Siliguri’s Punjabi Para area. Mayor Goutam Deb promptly visited the scene to assess the situation. He emphasized that the Siliguri Municipal Corporation will thoroughly investigate the incident before taking any further action, including sealing the garage.
The unfortunate incident took place while gas was being filled in the air conditioning unit of an army officer’s vehicle at a garage situated in Punjabipara, Ward No. 13. The sudden explosion caused injuries to three garage employees and an army soldier. All the injured individuals were immediately taken to Siliguri District Hospital, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.
Mayor Goutam Deb arrived at the scene soon after the incident. He assured the public that the SMC will conduct a comprehensive investigation into the matter before making any decisions regarding the garage’s status.
