Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb assures support to deceased’s family and inspects damaged houses in Naxalbari

Naxalbari, 22nd June: Today, Siliguri Mayor Goutam Deb paid a visit to the residence of the deceased individual involved in the Hathighisa incident in Naxalbari. During the visit, Mayor Deb met with the family members and extended his assurance of justice and all necessary assistance. Joining him were Darjeeling District Trinamool President Papiya Ghosh and Siliguri Mahakuma Parishad Sabhadhipati Arun Ghosh.


Subsequently, Mayor Deb proceeded to Muribasti to assess the area. He inspected the houses that were damaged during protests related to the Hathighisa incident. The Mayor reassured the affected families of compensation and support. The unfortunate incident leading to the demise of Sudhir Nagasia occurred while he was allegedly physically assaulted, resulting in severe injuries. Sudhir, accompanied by his son, was en route to Naxalbari Hospital when an argument ensued with individuals in the Muribasti area, culminating in the assault.

Following his visits, Mayor Goutam Deb informed that he has briefed State Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee about the incident. He stated that the Chief Minister has instructed the police administration to take strict action against the individuals involved. Additionally, a comprehensive report of the incident will be provided to the Chief Minister.
