Siliguri Junction Bus Stand make it mandatory for all passengers to provide RT-PCR negative test report

Siliguri, 06th May: After swearing-in as the Chief Minister of West Bengal for the third consecutive time, the Trinamool Congress supremo Mamata Banerjee held a press conference on Wednesday, where she issued some guidelines to stabilize the current COVID situation.

While addressing her first meeting, the CM said that the COVID will be her priority as of now and has made it mandatory for everyone to wear masks. Furthermore, she directed that all the state government transport will function with 50 percent of the full capacity. While random checking will be done in inter-state buses, all passengers are required to produce an RT-PCR negative report not older than 72 hours.

In this context, Siliguri Junction Bus Association Cashier Anand (Sonu) Gupta stated that that the body received the directive from State Secretariat Nabanna today. Acting promptly, he said that all seats of the passenger bus are being sanitized thoroughly. He further maintained that the number of passengers has significantly dropped due to which about 20-30 buses, out of the usual 70-80 buses, are running per day.

While agreeing to the terms of passengers submitting an RT-PCR negative report before travelling, Gupta stated that most of the commuters are from outside and hence do not know the allotted place to undergo the test for COVID-19. In view of this, he added that it will be very convenient for the passengers, as well as them if the administration provided a testing centre close to the bus stand in Junction.
