Siliguri hit by bomb terror before Independence Day

Siliguri, 01st August: Tension prevailed outside Siliguri Junction Tenzing Norgay bus stand over an unattended bag, on Sunday morning. The locals strongly believed that the bag contained bombs in it. However, only pressure cookers and clothes were found in the bag later.


Reportedly, a bag was found lying outside the Junction Traffic Guard office. There was widespread panic surrounding the incident. The Junction traffic police workers informed the Pradhan Nagar police. Following which, barricades were set up surrounding the bag. The fire brigade and CID bomb squad team reached the spot and conducted a search for a long time. The gate of the Tenzing Norgay bus stand was also kept closed.

Finally the Bomb Squad team recovered some clothes and a pressure cooker from the bag. Meanwhile, a woman claimed that the bag belongs to her. She said that she has come from Dooars and had left the bag there in the morning. However, after recovering the items from the bag, they were taken to Pradhan Nagar police station.
