Siliguri Child Trafficking update: Two more arrested from Bihar

Siliguri, 28th March: The recent developments in the child trafficking case, two more people have been arrested from Patna. So far six people have been arrested in the said case. It is to be noted that a special team of Matigara and DD arrested both the accused and reached Siliguri this morning. They have been identified as Nutan Kumari and Amit Kumar, both residents of Patna. Reportedly, Nutan Kumari works in an IVF centre in Patna. Both were produced in the Siliguri court today.


It is to be noted that a special team of Matigara and DD had left for Patna on Sunday after the case of child trafficking came to the fore in Siliguri on Saturday. During the investigation, both the accused were nabbed with the help of the GPS and also a tip-off. Meanwhile, Nutan and Amit were all set to abscond, however, both were caught beforehand. According to the information, Nutan Kumari could be the mastermind behind the entire racket. Police sources stated that it was Nutan Kumari who had handed over the newborn baby girl born on March 19 to Prabha Devi from Dev Hospital in Patna on Friday.

After this, Prabha was to hand over the baby girl to Bina Devi in Siliguri and then would hand over the infant to Gauri Bahadur Chhetri and her husband Amit Devnath. The deal for the newborn infant was fixed for Rs 8 lakh. Regarding this, Bina Devi also deposited Rs 1 lakh 60 thousand in Amit Kumar’s bank account. It has been told that after the arrest of Nutan and Amit, several more names have come to the fore and also more revelations are coming out including for how long the scam had been going on. Also if other states or places are connected other than Siliguri and Patna. To investigate more into the same, the police have demanded the remand of both the accused from the court.
