Siliguri, 02nd August: Siliguri Boys’ High School alumni of the 1995 batch marked Friendship Day by honouring traffic police personnel at Mahatma Gandhi More in Siliguri.
As part of the initiative, the alumni tied friendship bands to the traffic police personnel, cut a cake and distributed umbrellas, keeping in mind the ongoing monsoon season and challenging weather conditions. The gesture was warmly received by the officers on duty.
DCP (Traffic) Quazi Samsuddin Ahamed attended the programme and appreciated the initiative. He said traffic police personnel carry out their duties every day despite rain, heat and adverse weather, adding that such gestures from members of the public motivate them to continue their service.
The organisers said the event was organised to express gratitude towards traffic police personnel for their tireless efforts in maintaining law and order on the roads and ensuring the smooth movement of traffic across the city.
