Siliguri, 07th October: The Durga Puja Carnival is all set to take place from 06:00 PM in Siliguri today. The preparations for the carnival are in the final stage since this morning. A procession of the carnival will commence from Hashmi Chowk in Siliguri and will conclude at Mahatma Gandhi More. A program will also be organized as a farewell to Maa Durga.
Siliguri’s Mayor Goutam Deb was spotted at the venue, since morning, taking stock of the preparations. At the same time, Police Commissioner Akhilesh Kumar Chaturvedi is inspecting the roads of the city. He took stock of Mahatma Gandhi More this morning along with DCP Traffic and other police officers.
On this occasion, DCP Traffic Abhishek Gupta said that traffic will be controlled on various roads from 4 pm onwards. Traffic will be stopped especially on Hill Cart Road, and Bidhan Road and vehicles will be diverted to ply from other roads.
