Siliguri: ABVP stages protest demanding justice in Lavanya case

Siliguri, 18th February: In Tamil Nadu, ABVP has been staging frequent demonstrations demanding justice for M Lavanya, a Class 12 student, who committed suicide over the alleged pressure on her for religious conversion.


ABVP members staged a protest in Siliguri Mahatma Gandhi More today. The effigy of Tamil Nadu’s Chief Minister was also burnt.

Biraj Biswas, a member of ABVP’s executive committee, said that the 17-year-old Lavanya was pressured to convert her religion in Tamil Nadu following which, she committed suicide. “Such incidents are increasing day by day. Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad will continue its movement to stop such incidents,” the activists stated.
