Kharibari, 27th June: Madanjote BOP personnel of 41st Battalion of SSB in a joint action with West Bengal Land Revenue Department, seized several tractors in connection with illegal sand mining from the Mechi River. The seized tractors were handed over to the said department after necessary action by the SSB.
According to the information received, sand was being mined illegally from the Mechi River. When the matter was informed to the West Bengal Land Revenue Department by the SSB, an operation was launched and 15 tractors were seized from the Madanjote area while they were illegally extracting sand. Meanwhile, advance action is being taken by the West Bengal Land Revenue Department Kharibari against the illegal quarrying.
