Siliguri, 26th July: Sensation prevailed after the rotting body of an elderly woman, identified as Tapasi Bhattacharya was recovered from an apartment in Siliguri Babupara.
According to local sources, the deceased used to live alone in a flat near Ward No. 27 YMA grounds. The incident came to light only when her neighbours sensed a foul smell coming from her room from the past several days.
Upon receiving the news, the Siliguri police reached the spot, recovered her body, and sent it to North Bengal Medical College-Hospital for an autopsy. It has been assumed that she died following an illness.
