Cooch Behar, 03rd November: Sensation prevailed in Chakchaka Harimandir adjacent to National Highway-31 in Cooch Behar when a student died in a road accident while another was injured this morning. The said injured student is undergoing treatment in a private hospital in Cooch Behar. The deceased has been identified as Chayan Roy while the injured is Apoorva Sarkar.
According to locals, the students were traveling in a toto to Chakchaka from the Khapaidanga area. While passing by the Harimandir road, a truck heading from Tufanganj came in mid-way. In trying to save their lives the two students in toto jumped off. Due to this both got hit by the truck.
Chayan Roy died on the spot while the seriously injured Apoorva Sarkar was rescued and rushed to the private hospital by the locals and fire department personnel.
The police of Pundibari police also reached the spot shortly after receiving the news of the incident. After which the truck has been seized by the police and further probing into the matter.
