Siliguri, 25th June: Residents of the Chayan Para Main Road area in Ward No. 37 of Siliguri have alleged severe inconvenience due to the dumping of garbage along the roadside.
According to local residents, waste is regularly brought from surrounding areas and dumped at the location, but no proper or regular cleaning measures are being undertaken.
Residents claimed that the site has effectively turned into a temporary dumping ground, leading to a foul smell across the locality. They further alleged that the continuous accumulation of garbage in front of residential properties has created significant difficulties for those living in the area.
One resident alleged that the dumping had become so extensive that one of the entrances to his house had nearly been blocked. He also claimed that movement along the road had become difficult and that slabs were being damaged during garbage-clearing operations.
Locals said the matter had previously been brought to the attention of the ward councillor, but no action had been taken so far.
The residents have demanded immediate intervention by the SMC Administrator to resolve the issue and ensure regular garbage clearance in the area.
