Siliguri, 15th March: Residents of Siliguri’s Shantipara protested over the installation of a mobile tower on the terrace of a building in the area. They staged a road blockade and later submitted a memorandum at the NJP police station.
The people alleged that Shantipara is a densely populated area and so the owner of the house should have taken permission from the locals before installing the tower. They further asserted that with the installation of the tower, the people of the area will face numerous problems. The people also accused the Gram Panchayat Pradhan of paying no heed to their complaints despite notifying him several times regarding the issue.
On the other hand, the owner of the house where the said tower is being installed denied all allegations and claimed to have only started the work after taking permission from all the residents.
