Bagdogra, 19th October: During the election campaign, Panchayat member Ujjwal Sharma, who won the election from TMC, had assured the ward residents to facilitate potable water in the Daragaon area of Bagdogra Sukant Nagar.
But even after two months of getting elected, the promise to facilitate potable water in the area has not been fulfilled. Condemning this, today the local residents protested by locking down Panchayat member Ujjwal Sharma in Upper Bagdogra Gram Panchayat’s office. The residents of the area alleged that Ujjwal Sharma failed to supply water to the area.
The Bagdogra police reached the spot as soon as the news of the incident was received. After this, the local residents held a discussion with the Deputy Pradhan of the Gram Panchayat. Speaking on this matter, Panchayat member Ujjwal Sharma said that they have spoken to the PHE office. Deputy Pradhan Sanjit Mahato also said that the PHE office has been informed and water will be facilitated in the next 48 hours. Furthermore, they assured to take all necessary actions if the problem is not resolved at the earliest.
