Re-polling commences in 696 polling booths; incidents of proxy voting reported

Rajganj, 10th July: On Monday morning, re-polling began in approximately 696 polling booths across the state under the watchful eyes of Central forces. Amidst the ongoing process, reports have emerged from Jummagachh in Sannyasikata of Rajganj block, regarding instances of proxy voting.


As per the reports, voting commenced at 9 a.m. today at booth no. 18/121 in Jummagachh. It came to light that a woman had cast a vote on behalf of her severely ill mother-in-law. The woman explained that due to her mother-in-law’s condition, she took on the responsibility of voting in her stead. The presiding officer of the booth confirmed that the voting process appeared normal. He further mentioned that family members were allowed to accompany physically challenged voters, and they remain vigilant to prevent any irregularities.
