Rampant loot after breaking car window glass raised security concerns in Siliguri

Siliguri, 16th February: Incidents of rampant loot after breaking glasses of cars are raising security concerns in Siliguri. In recent incidents, miscreants broke glass windows of two cars and fled with cash, mobile phones, and cameras in an area under the New Jalpaiguri (NJP). It is to be noted that, a similar incident of theft had occurred earlier on Siliguri’s Burdwan Road.


As per reports, on Friday, Laxmikant Pal Roy, a resident of Jalpaiguri, had parked his vehicle on the roadside near the PWD More area adjacent to Noukaghat. The victim had arrived at a relative’s place in Siliguri’s Shaktigarh. After meeting his relatives as he approached his car he spotted a glass broken and two mobile phones, cash, and car documents missing. Subsequently, the matter was informed to the police. In this regard, the car owner alleged that the police reached the spot after about one and a half hours.

Meanwhile, another incident of theft occurred in the Noukaghat More area where miscreants broke the glass of a car and made way with cameras and lenses worth lakhs of rupees. Later, a written complaint has been lodged at the NJP police station.
