Rajganj MLA visits injured Trinamool candidate at his residence

Rajganj, 29th July: Zakair Hussain, the winning candidate from Trinamool Congress, suffered serious injuries during the political violence on the day of the Panchayat elections. Today, Rajganj MLA Khageswar Roy visited Zakair’s residence to extend his support and solidarity. During the visit, the MLA urged authorities to take strict action against those responsible for the violent attack.


The incident occurred on July 8 at the Gadheya Gachh booth of Binnaguri Gram Panchayat in Rajganj, where a political clash erupted during the polling. Zakair Hussain, the Trinamool candidate, sustained severe injuries to his leg and head in the altercation. He was immediately rushed to a private hospital in Siliguri for treatment, where he remained under medical care for several days. After receiving treatment, he returned to his home on Monday but is currently on bed rest.

MLA Khageswar Roy expressed concern over the violent actions committed by the opposition on the day of polling, resulting in injuries not only to Zakair Hussain but also to several other individuals. In response to the incident, he urged the police to swiftly apprehend the culprits responsible and ensure they face appropriate and stringent punishment. The MLA emphasized that any failure to do so will prompt action from the party against the perpetrators.
