Railway GM on a two-day hill tour to assess the current situation of DHR

Siliguri, 09th November: Sanjeev Roy, General Manager of the North Eastern Frontier Railway, is on a two-day Darjeeling Hills tour to assess the current situation of Darjeeling Himalayan Railway (DHR). On Monday morning, Roy reached Rongtong on a toy train from Sukna. Following which, he headed towards Darjeeling by road.


Addressing the media at Rongtong, he stated that the NJP-Darjeeling toy train service cannot be resumed at the moment due to landslides in some areas. However, initiatives can be taken to start the ‘Joy Rides’. 

He further informed that the state government, as well as the District Magistrate, have been approached in this regard, however, permission has not yet been granted.
