Protests in Siliguri after Rahul Gandhi sentenced to two years of imprisonment in defamation case over ‘Modi surname’ remark

Siliguri, 23rd March: The Surat court sentenced Congress leader Rahul Gandhi in a criminal defamation case over his ‘Modi surname’ remark. The court sentenced him to two years of imprisonment in the said case. 


In protest against the same, along with the entire state, the Darjeeling District Youth Congress also staged a protest in Siliguri. The district’s Youth Congress protested by blocking the road at Hashmi Chowk of Siliguri. During this, the police corps of Siliguri police station was present on the spot. After protesting for about ten minutes, they cleared the road blockade.
