Professors and students protest against North Bengal University’s land transfer

Siliguri, 25th November: Tension prevailed on the university campus during the protest against the land transfer of North Bengal University. Reportedly, the land of the University is likely to be transferred to a Hotel Management Institute. 


In regard to this, a protest was organized in the university on behalf of NBU Bachao Manch, a forum comprised of university professors and students. 

Today, there was talk of agitators meeting the Vice-Chancellor of the University Omprakash Mishra to protest against the transfer of land but instead, security guards were deployed on the spot with barricades since morning. And before meeting the Vice-Chancellor, tension ensued at the North Bengal University. During the chaos, an attempt was made to break the gate of the administrative building. Later the agitators protested in front of the administrative building.
