Professor Sanchari Roy Mukherjee takes charge as acting VC of North Bengal University 

Siliguri, 22nd May: Professor Sanchari Roy Mukherjee, today, took charge as the acting Vice Chancellor of North Bengal University upon being instructed by the Governor of the State. Upon taking charge of the responsibilities in the university today, the new acting Vice-Chancellor was welcomed by the Registrar, Dean, and other University officials.


Reportedly, Sanchari Roy Mukherjee had previously held the position of Vice Chancellor at South Dinajpur and Raiganj Universities, in addition to serving as a Professor in the Department of Economics at North Bengal University. Until further notice from the Governor, Mukherjee will continue to serve as the acting Vice Chancellor of the university.

After taking office, the professor paid tribute to Raja Ram Mohan Roy on his birth anniversary by placing a garland on his portrait. Speaking on the occasion, Professor Sanchari expressed her honour and happiness upon assuming the post. She also acknowledged the power of women, highlighting that women are holding various positions, including that of the University Registrar. The acting Vice Chancellor further announced that all matters raised during the tenure of former Vice Chancellor Om Prakash Mishra will remain unchanged. However, other tasks and matters, including those related to NAAC, will be given priority and addressed.
