Police take stern actions against the lockdown violators in Siliguri

Siliguri, 15th July: In light of the growing number of positive coronavirus cases across the city, a complete lockdown has been imposed in nine different wards of Siliguri Municipal Corporation.


A police campaign was launched on Tuesday in Siliguri’s MG Chowk (Airview More) under the leadership of IC of Bhaktinagar Traffic Guard Subir Dutta and ACP (DD-II) Rajen Chhetri.


A person who was spotted without wearing a mask was detained on the charge of breaching lockdown protocols. Two e-rickshaws (Totos) were also detained for disobeying the rules and carrying four passengers at a time.

Apart from this, the police officials explained the importance of mouth masks and other COVID guidelines to the bus drivers and passengers. The motorists were asked to make sure all passengers wear masks before boarding the bus.
