Siliguri, 17th October: A shocking case of stripping a woman publicly has come to the fore in the area of Samarnagar under Pradhan Nagar Police station in Siliguri. On having suspicion of having an illicit relationship, a woman was stripped naked and physically assaulted by spitting and thrashing her.
Reportedly, this morning a woman was on her way to take her son to tuition. It is alleged that during this time her neighbour spat on her. On objecting to such misconduct, she was beaten up badly and stripped of her clothes. Later the locals reached the spot and brought the situation under control.
On receiving the news of the said incident, the police of Pradhan Nagar police station reached the spot and detained three people including two women. The attacker’s family alleged that the said woman had illicit affair with their relative. But the victim refused to accept it.
On the other hand, Jagdish Roy, the head of Samarnagar Gram Panchayat, also reached the spot after hearing about the incident. He said that no one is above the law and no one should be taking the law into their hands. Stating this, he strongly opposed the incident.
