Siliguri, 04th November: In a significant breakthrough, the Special Operations Group (SOG) in collaboration with Matigara police station raided illegal gambling dens ahead of the Diwali and Kali Puja in Siliguri.
As per reports, the SOG and the undercover cops of the Matigara police station launched a joint operation in the Simultala area and arrested 8 individuals in connection with illegal gambling.
The arrested accused have been identified as Deepak Bain, Bishnu Bishwa, Nikhil Mandal, Hussain Ansari, Akash Tamang, Mahananda Baroi, Sushil Bala, and Dilip Bala. Following the arrest, police also recovered about Rs 41,500 in cash. On Saturday, all the accused have been before the Siliguri court, while, police are engaged in further investigation.
