Police arrest miscreant with donation box stolen from a Hanuman Temple in Siliguri

Siliguri, 18th February: A shocking incident of theft surfaced from Hanuman Temple located on the Nehru Road area under Ward No. 9 of Siliguri Municipal Corporation, where a miscreant fled with the donation box. The incident led to the arrest of the accused MD Hafizul (22), a resident of Siliguri’s Jyoti Nagar, within an hour. Significantly, the stolen donation box was also recovered.


According to police sources, earlier on Sunday, a miscreant broke into a Hanuman Temple located in the said area and allegedly made off with the donation box. Later, when the priest arrived at the temple, he learned about the theft and lodged a complaint at Khalpara police station regarding the matter.

Based on the complaint, the Khalpara police initiated an investigation, arrested the accused, and recovered the stolen donation box from Vivekananda Road within an hour. On Sunday, the accused was booked on charges of theft and produced before the Siliguri Court. Currently, the police are engaged in further investigation.
