People leaving TMC and joining BJP are ‘Vibhishan’: Shanta Chettri

Siliguri, 18th December: During a press conference on Friday, Hill Trinamool Congress leader and Rajya Sabha MP Shanta Chhetri said that the ones leaving the party and joining BJP are selfish and do not love the party. She further asserted that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) too will treat them in a similar manner.

Speaking on the recent exits of the party’s various heavyweight leaders, MP went on to call them as ‘Vibhishan’ of the legendary Hindu epic Ramayan. Vibhishan, despite being the younger brother of the Lord of Lanka, Ravan and Kumbakarna, divulged the secrets of Ravan’s army and made sure Ram was victorious in the great battle.

It is to be noted, a delegation of BJP alliance partners from Darjeeling region approached the central government, on Thursday, demanding the inclusion of 11 left out Gorkha sub-tribes in Schedule Tribe status. In this regard, Shanta Chhetri said that the TMC has been fighting for granting ST status to the 11 left out Gorkha sub-tribes for many years and have also raised numerous concerns in the parliament.

“Some of the BJP’s marketing agents are misleading the people of the hills and are trying to disturb peace in the hills,” Chettri further alleged and said that the 16 BJP MPs are acting as parrots of the party.
