Pensioners distressed for not getting pension due to lack of postmaster’s ID in a post office in Siliguri

Siliguri, 01st November: The retired government employees expressed displeasure for not getting a pension due to lack of postmaster’s ID in the post office. The incident surfaced from Rabindranagar Post Office of Siliguri.


Reportedly, the elderly customers have been facing difficulty in getting their pension for the last two months and have been visiting the post office repeatedly. Alleged, due to ID issues, lack of staff, and being unable to link, they are being turned away. Significantly, several people depend on pensions for a living.

In this regard, the acting officer of the post office Debashish Barman stated that the problem is occurring due to a lack of a proper ID. He added that the information has been provided to higher officials. Furthermore, he stated that the main issue is the unavailability of a postmaster in the post office. As he is an acting postmaster, he does not hold a postmaster’s ID. In addition, there is a shortage of employees. However, he assured of resolving the issue soon.
