Parents’ negligence leads to infant’s death in Siliguri, locals enraged

Siliguri, 19th February: A distressing incident surfaced from Baribhasa of Siliguri where a one-and-a-half-month-old infant died due to the negligent conduct of the parents. Enraged locals have raised accusations against the couple for gross negligence. The deceased body of the infant has been transported for a post-mortem examination at the North Bengal Medical College and Hospital (NBMCH) while further investigation is underway.


According to local sources, the infant was physically weak since birth and was hospitalized for a few days. Locals reported that the infant was not taken care of which caused the death earlier on Monday morning.

After the incident, the locals were outraged by the incident while alleging that the infant died as a result of the parent’s negligence. The incident was later reported to the New Jalpaiguri (NJP) police station.


The deceased infant’s parents were therefore summoned to the police station for interrogation. However, no formal complaint has been lodged in connection with the occurrence. On the other hand, the locals have demanded strict punishment for the couple.
