Panitanki: Missing seals recovered after arrest of former immigration OC in Thai nationals case

Panitanki, 09th June: Police have recovered three missing immigration department seals during the investigation into the arrest of former immigration OC Ravi Diyali in connection with the illegal border crossing case involving two Thai women at the Indo-Nepal border in Panitanki, Kharibari.

According to police sources, the seals were recovered from Ravi Diyali’s residence in the Salbari area of Siliguri after he was taken into three-day police remand for questioning.

Investigators alleged that despite the official seals having been sent from the immigration department to the Darjeeling Police Lines, Diyali used the government seals in his possession on May 28 for documents related to the Thai nationals.

Police further claimed that the arrested former immigration officer assisted Jitendra Mehra, who has been named as a broker in the case and is accused of facilitating the illegal cross-border movement of the Thai women.

Meanwhile, Kharibari Police have launched a search operation to trace the whereabouts of the main accused, Jitendra Mehra.
