One arrested with counterfeit currency worth lakhs in Alipurduar

Alipurduar, 20th August: In a significant breakthrough, the Alipurduar police have successfully apprehended an individual in possession of counterfeit notes worth lakhs. The accused has been identified as Brajen Shil, a resident of Panialguri.


According to reports, the police conducted a raid in the Majherdabri area of Alipurduar on Saturday night. During a media briefing, Additional Superintendent of Police Kuntal Banerjee announced that an individual was promptly arrested with Rs 6.33 lakhs in cash during a raid led by the Anti Crime Team and IC of Alipurduar police station. The officer added that among the seized currency, Rs 1.33 lakhs worth of counterfeit notes were retrieved.

Today, the accused was produced in the court, while, the entire matter is under further police investigation to ascertain the possible involvement of the accused with inter-state smugglers.
