Siliguri, 06th April: In a significant breakthrough, the Matigara police station, in a joint operation with the Special Operations Group (SOG) arrested an individual with brown sugar. The arrested accused identified as Mithun Mahato, is stated to be a resident of Dalkhola.
Reportedly, acting on a tip-off, the police and SOG of Matigara police station had apprehended Mithun on the basis of suspicion in Phansidewa under pass. During the subsequent search, 469 grams of brown sugar was recovered from a black plastic bag held by the accused. The market value of the seized drugs is estimated to be in lakhs of rupees.
Sources revealed that the accused was in plans to smuggle the drugs brought from Malda to Phansidewa under pass More. However, he was apprehended by the police. On Sunday, the accused will be produced before the Siliguri court.
