Siliguri, 03rd September: In a significant breakthrough the cops of the Bhaktinagar police station busted an attempted scheme to smuggle drugs from Siliguri to Sikkim. The incident involved the arrest of a drug peddler, identified as Dipesh Tamang (35), a resident of Sikkim.
According to police sources, Dipesh, on his way to Sikkim, stood at Eastern Bypass carrying a bag containing a significant amount of illegal drugs and cough syrup. Upon receiving the information, Bhakti Nagar police officials undertook an operation and arrested the accused. During the search, 19 bottles of banned cough syrup, 2,664 pieces of intoxicating capsules, and 180 pieces of intoxicating tablets were recovered from his possession.
Following this, a case was registered against the accused under the NDPS (Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances) Act. Meanwhile, police are engaged in further investigation of the entire matter.
