One arrested for scamming on pretext of providing job in Siliguri

Siliguri, 14th October: Matigara police arrested a person for scamming on the pretext of providing government jobs. The arrested has been identified as Raghunath Karmakar (41). The police today produced the accused in Siliguri court.

Reportedly, in the year 2019, Neelima Debnath met with a person named Kallol Adhikari in the Shiv Mandir area. During this, Kallol promised Neelima Debnath to provide her a government job in exchange for money. Neelima trusted his words and paid six lakh rupees in exchange for a job. After receiving the money, Kallol started to put off the deal he had made with her. From 2019 to 2022, Kallol continued to postpone the employment opportunity with Neelima.

After a lot of waiting for a response, Neelima found Kallol’s motive and deal to be suspicious, and acting on her suspicion she lodged a written complaint at Matigara police station on 22 September. On the basis of the complaint, the police engaged in the investigation and arrested Raghunath Karmakar, the partner of Kallol Adhikari, from Indira Colony last night. The police of Matigara police station has requested the court to grant them to keep Raghunath Karmakar under remand to nab the main mastermind Kallol Adhikari.
