One arrested for attempting burglary in Ashok Bhattacharya’s house

Siliguri, 11th December: After burglary was attempted at the house of Ashok Bhattacharya on Wednesday night, the Siliguri police launched investigations on Thursday. They took the help of Sniffer Dogs to search the entire house and garden area. Following which, a man, identified as Ananda Das has been arrested. He was produced before the Siliguri court today.


Reportedly, Das is a resident of the NJP Bashbari Thakurnagar area. After questioning him, the police learned that the accused had visited Ashok Bhattacharya’s house along with his grandmother concerning widow allowance.

Police speculate Das minutely observed the entire house during the visit. He later broke into the house and attempted to steal several utensils. However, after a family member caught him red-handed, he hurriedly fled away leaving the stolen goods in the house garden.
