Officers Association of NBU staged a sit-in protest demanding appointment of Vice Chancellor

Siliguri, 17th March: The Officers’ Association of North Bengal University staged a sit-in protest in the university demanding the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor at the earliest. Reportedly, the Joint Registrar Swapan Rakshit, Deputy Finance Officer Surjit Das, former Registrar Nupur Das, and others staged a sit-in in protest in front of the administrative building.


In this regard, the president of the organization, Debashish Dutta said that a letter has been sent to the Governor regarding the vacant post of Vice-Chancellor, but no arrangements have been made so far. He further added that the absence of the VC is hampering the work of the university. Also, temporary employees are not getting paid due to the non-availability of the Registrar and Finance Officer of the university. In such a situation, the salary of officers, professors, and employees can be stopped in the coming days. He further warned to launch a massive agitation if the Vice-Chancellor is not appointed in the coming days.
