North Bengal’s four girls to compete in 23rd Senior National Women’s Wrestling Championship

Rajganj, 28th January: Four girls from North Bengal are going to participate in the 23rd Senior National Women’s Wrestling Championship. The contestants have undergone training in Gajoldoba under Jalpaiguri District Wrestling Association.


The participants include Rinku Saibo of Gajoldoba High School, Aparna Barman of Mathabhanga College, Mamata Majhi and her cousin sister of Sunil Dutta Smrity Girls High School, Oodlabari. The young athletes will leave for Delhi on January 29 to participate in the championship.

The girls performed exceptionally well during the state level wrestling competition and so, the hopes of them doing the same in the national level as well are high.


The girls come from families with daily wage labourers and farmers. Due to their poor financial condition, they struggle to maintain proper diet required to prepare for the competition. In view of this, Belakoba’s social workers Sukumar Roy and Ashok Das stepped up to provide assistance to them, today.
